Palawan is one of the famous island provinces of the Philippines located in Region 4 or in the MIMAROPA Region. It is the largest province in the Philippines with 1768 islands and islets surrounded by attractive and rich marine life. The island stretched from the province of Mindoro to the southeast of Borneo. Its capital is Puerto Princesa City. The province is named after the largest island, Palawan Island, the length is about 425 KM from tip to tip and the distance between north and south is about 650 km. Every the year Pagdiwata Ritual is celebrated by all Palawenos; it is one of the famous fiestas which represents a part of the Tagbanua culture. It is celebrated every December in the town proper of Aborlan. The Pagdiwata strongly expresses its sentiments towards familial culture. It is used for securing séance when people are sick in town. Some of the activities during the rituals include offering wines, nuts, beans, vegetables, foods and other things. Pagdiwata also symbolized gratitude for harvest, climate, successful hunting trip and blessings. The important part of the festival is when the Babaylan (high priest) was being used by supernatural. Some of the activities and events presented in the rituals are War Dancing or Hunting, Harvesting, Tarek and Planting.
Palawan is located on the western part of the Philippines. Geographically located 586 km. southwest of the Metro Manila. The island is accessible by air and sea. Flight from Manila to Cebu will only take approximately 1 hour and half hour flight from Metro Manila to the Puerto Princesa City.
