Magellan’s Cross is one of the famous tourist attraction in Cebu. It is the symbol
of the establishment of Roman Catholicism in the Philippines. It is also a symbol
of Cebu City and the kiosk’s images can be found in its official city seal. The Cebu
government hails it as the city’s most important historical landmark.The story goes
when Magellan travelled from Spain to the Philippines in 1521, he brought with him
a wooden Cross. This cross was planted on the shores of Sugbu,Cebu, to commemorate
the baptism of Humabon, his wife and some of their followers on April 21, 1521.
It is also use to symbolized the colonization not just in Cebu but in the whole Philippines.

the Tiondaki wood cross displayed on the center of the chapel. The original cross
has been kept to protect it from those visitors who want to chip away a part, believing
that it is miraculous. Some people believe that the cross seen inside the kiosk is

paintings on the ceiling of this hexagonal chapel. It depicts the landing of Magellan
in Cebu and the planting of Cross also the baptism of Rajah Humabon, his wife and
children and their followers.
