One of the famous tourist destination in Cebu is the Basilica Minore Del Santo Niño. It is one of the Cebu’s oldest Roman Catholic Church.also still retains the original stone texture and natural color it had in 16th century.This church  was built in the 16th century by Miguel Lopez De Legazpi and Fr. Andres Urdaneta  on the spot where the image of the sto Nino which was left behind during Magellan’s expedition. The church was destroyed by fire on November 1,1568 and the church construction was completed on 1739.

Today, the church draws devotees, churchgoers, tourist, and some vendors. As the church cannot accommodate the growing numbers of churchgoers and visitors who come to hear mass in the Basilica Minore Del Santo Niño, a pilgrim center was built within the church compound and priest officiate mass in the open air theatre.

Within the Basilica Minore Del Santo Niño vicinity are candle vendors  who offer dance prayers in the two step forward and one step backward rhythm called SINUG. Many cebuanos and tourist ask for this dance prayer for an affordable price because many believes that it is miraculous. It is widely believe that the Sto Nino image sometimes goes out of its glass case to take a short walk at the night. They point to grass stains on the hem of its dress as evidence. The story are dismissed as superstition but they strengthen belief of devotees that the Sto Nino watches them.
